How to create textures using Highlight Design
Thursday, 28 June 2007 tweet this
The tutorial here describes how to create textures, a star shape, on object surfaces using [Pencil+ 2 Material]/[Advanced Settings]/[Highlight Design].

  1. Draw a sphere which lighting effects will be applied to.
    Follow [Create/Standard Primitives/Sphere] to create a sphere.

  2. Assign Pencil+2 Material, and set a simple highlight.
Decide parameters for Specular Level, Glossiness and Sharpness on the [Basic Parameters] roll out/[Highlight] group as the picture shows.

Try detail settings for textures following steps below.

See How to apply Pencil+ 2 Material to learn how to assign Pencil+ 2 Material to the object.

  3. Activate the [Enable] check box on Pencil+2 Material/[Basic Parameters] roll out/[Advanced Settings] button/[Highlight Design] group.

  4. Add more points to easily create a star shape.
Set [10] for number of points, and hit the [Reset] button.

  5. Move vertexes to draw a star.
The material appears in a star shape after it is rendered.

  6. Add stronger impact to a star.
Set [300] for Amount on the [Highlight Design ] group.

Simple shaped textures, [Highlight Design] settings are applied to, are more effectively appeared, and simple models show the textures clearer on their surfaces.
