How to merge lines
Thursday, 28 June 2007 tweet this
The tutorial describes how to merge Pencil+ 2 lines saved on different max files (file A/Bs below).
To merge lines, use Helper of Pencil+ 2, not using the [Environments and Effects] menu/[Effects] panel/[Merge] button to avoid incomplete processing.

  1. Open the file A, and select Pencil+ 2 on the pull-down list menu of Helper. To find it, follow the [Command] panel/Helper.

  2. Press the [Line Merge] button, and place Pencil+ 2 Line Merge Helper on any scenes.

  3. Save the scene.

  4. Open the file B first, and follow the [File]/[Merge] menu to choose the file A, and then the [Merge] dialog box appears (as the next step shows).

  5. Choose Pencil+ 2 Line Merge Helper, and press the [OK] button to show the [Pencil+ 2 Line Merge (1/1)] dialog box .

  6. Select a way to merge lines, and press the [OK] button.

  7. Pencil+2 lines are merged.
Pencil+ 2 Line Merge Helper is automatically deleted when lines are merged.

To merge line effects of external objects (XRef Objects), Pencil+ 2 Helper is also available.

Note that older versions than 3ds Max 8 disturb you showing the [Merge] dialog box every time when a max file is opened.
