All plug-ins that are compatible with 3ds Max 2009/2010 are also compatible with 3ds Max Design 2009/2010.

When choosing the plug-in installation directory, please select the 3ds Max Design directory.
Example: "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2009".
