Sendai, Japan - July 10, 2024 - P SOFTHOUSE released today "PSOFT Pencil+ 4 Render App for Mac", its first Mac-compatible version of "Pencil+ 4", a rendering software that is widely used in the Japanese anime industry. With it, the free add-on "PSOFT Pencil+ 4 Line for Blender" can now also be used with Blender for Mac, making top quality line drawing possible in a Mac environment for the first time.
This product also includes official support for "PSOFT Pencil+ 4 Material for Blender". By combining high-quality lines and cel-shading, artists can create the distinctive art style seen in Japanese animation and illustrations.
Development Background
"PSOFT Pencil+ 4 Render App", along with "PSOFT Pencil+ 4 Line for Blender", an add-on for the open-source 3DCG software "Blender", were developed in collaboration with khara, inc., the studio behind the movie "EVANGELION:3.0+1.11 THRICE UPON A TIME". It was released for Windows in 2023 and a Mac version was later developed and released to respond to popular demand.
Blender, which can be used by anyone, is being increasingly adopted not only by individual users but also by the Japanese anime industry. With the introduction of the Mac version of "Pencil+ 4 Render App" which has been attracting a lot of attention since its release for Windows, top quality line rendering can now be used in a wide range of production environments, and it is expected to be used in new creative fields such as animation, motion graphics, product design, and graphic design.
